Mayor Bass Unveils $13.9B Budget

Around the Corner

Today, the LA City Council’s Budget and Finance Committee holds a special in-person meeting in DTLA to hear public comments on the proposed 2025-26 budget.

Last week, Mayor Karen Bass proposed a $13.9 billion spending plan. This budget includes a $1 billion deficit, leading to proposals for layoffs and department consolidation. Despite these cuts, the proposed budget represents an 8.2% increase compared to the previous year's adopted plan. City Council is expected to vote on the proposed budget in June.
