  • Gov. Gavin Newsom and the Legislature have proposed gutting the state’s main source of homelessness funding in the 2025-26 Budget

  • Santa Monica City Council directed staff in May to declare two city-owned properties designated for affordable housing in the state certified Housing Element as “surplus land” and issue solicitations for the development of affordable housing at these sites. The RFP was released last week and bids are due by June 30, 2025. The two sites are:

    • 1333 4th St. and 1324 5th St. (collectively known as 4th/5th/Arizona)  

    • 2500 Olympic Blvd. (Bergamot Station Arts Center)

  • Organizations that receive federal Continuum of Care Program grants to help unhoused people in California with housing, rental assistance, and other services must now follow federal rules that prevent the use of funds for promoting "gender ideology," "elective abortions," and "illegal immigration," etc.

  • 1904 - 1906 South Preuss Rd, VTT-84089-SL-HCA-2A: Deny the appeals filed by: 1) Arielle Mandell & Faye Mandell; and 2) Meyer Shwarzstein & Susan Kahn, and sustain the LACPC’s denial of the appeal and sustain the decision of the Advisory Agency’s to approve a Vesting Tentative Tract Map for subdivision of two lots into 12 small lots in the West Adams-Baldwin Hills–Leimert Community Plan with one VLI dwelling unit. One small lot home will be constructed at each of the 12 small lots. Six small lot homes will encompass a floor area of 2,365 sf and a building height of 45 feet (four-stories). Two small lot homes will encompass a floor area of 2,365 sf and a building height of 44 ft and 11 inches. One small lot home will encompass a floor area of 2,288 sf and a building height of 45 ft (four-stories). One small lot home will encompass a floor area of 2,288 sf and a building height of 44 ft and 11 inches (four-stories). One small lot home will encompass a floor area of 2,281 sf and a building height of 44 ft and 11 inches (four-stories). June 18 | West LA Area Planning Commission

  • 52 1-4 East Market St, APCW-2024-5236-SPPE-SPPC-CDP-CUB-WDI-ZV-ADJ: The project consists of a 908 sf addition to an existing two-story, 2,603 sf duplex with two guest rooms, the conversion of two existing dwelling units to artist-in-residences, the change of use of a portion of the ground floor into a restaurant, and the construction of a colonnade (arcade) within the public right-of-way, resulting in a lot developed with a two-story, 3,511 sf mixed use structure with a roof deck comprised of two guest rooms, two artist-in-residences (joint living and work quarters), and a 555 sf restaurant providing 267 sf of indoor Service Floor area and 283 sf of outdoor Service Floor area within the public right-of-way; and a colonnade (arcade) within the public right-of-way, maintaining three parking spaces on-site.

  • 1776 Main St, 23ENT-0142: Proposed Second Amendment to the Development Agreement for RAND’s existing institutional office building located at 1776 Main Street to update and expand allowable uses within the existing building, remove barriers to leasing and/or transferring the Project Site, and provide additional community benefits. A Civic Center Specific Plan Amendment accompanies RAND’s proposed Second Amendment to ensure consistency with the site-specific expanded uses requested for RAND’s Property at 1776 Main Street. The Planning Commission will also consider a recommendation to the City Council that the Project, including the proposed Second Amendment to Development Agreement and Civic Center Specific Plan Amendment, is exempt from CEQA.   • 1437 6th St, 25ENT-0070: Appeal of the Architectural Review Board’s approval of the building design, colors, materials, and landscape plans for the construction of an 18-story multi-family residential building with 172 units and 2 levels of subterranean parking.
